Your Tax Attorneys

It’s hard to know where to turn when your tax liabilities seem like they’ve come out of nowhere. At Robinson & Henry, we have a team of expert tax attorneys who have not only advised but also litigated an extensive range of civil and criminal tax cases for individuals and corporations.

A tax lawyer can reduce or eliminate your bill and also work on your behalf to help you avoid going to prison on more serious tax charges. There are companies that provide tax services without having attorneys on staff who are licensed and authorized to work with the IRS. Having a certified tax lawyer work with the IRS on your behalf can save significant amounts of money and time.

Client Reviews

“We just got our wills, POAs and living wills completed by Michael Hanchett. Michael was extremely professional, very patient and the documents were much more extensive than the one’s we already had. He took the time to understand our specific needs and when it came to review and signing, everything was clearly explained without any pressure. We are extremely satisfied and plan to use the firm again when the need arises.”

As the son of an Army Chaplain, Michael grew up throughout the United States and overseas, including Hawaii, Germany and Chile. Drawing from these experiences, Michael’s familiarity with cultural diversity allows him to successfully interact, understand and represent his diverse set of clients.

Early in his career, Michael specialized in construction defect litigation, successfully representing many types of clients, such as Fortune 500 companies, general contractors, developers and insurers. From there, Michael took a yearlong sabbatical, becoming the VP of an online sales and consulting company, so that he could better understand business tax matters related to mergers and acquisitions. During his time there, the company grew exponentially from 25 employees to over 100 and quickly became a multi-million dollar operation.

Deciding to take his new-found knowledge to a different area, Michael returned to practice law in 2009 for one of the nation’s largest tax debt resolution and business restructuring firms. There, Michael successfully negotiated hundreds of resolutions with the IRS and state taxing authorities and expanded his client base to include individuals, sole proprietors, partnerships, limited liability companies and large corporations.

Now at Robinson & Henry, Michael is the lead tax and estate planning attorney in the Colorado Springs office, working with both individuals and business owners. When Michael is not in the office helping his clients, he is volunteering for Boy Scouts of America or cheering on his four boys from the sidelines, as a consummate coach and fan.

Lucas regularly speaks on taxes and other topics in and around the Denver area. Through his intricate knowledge of the IRS and other taxing authorities, Lucas is able to advise both business owners and individuals on how to best structure their tax dealings.

Lucas has successfully helped many clients resolve tax debt and reach negotiation agreements with the IRS by utilizing the tax code to keep money in his client’s pockets. In two cases, Lucas’ clients were told they owed $100,000+ in unpaid taxes. For one client, Lucas argued a settlement with the IRS for $21,000 when the IRS claimed the original amount owed was $160,000 – saving his client $139,000. Another client facing an IRS bill of $100,000 ended up owing nothing after being represented by Lucas, and was even refunded monies previously paid to the IRS.

When Lucas is not saving his clients money, he is enjoying the sights of Colorado with his wife, Michelle and their dog, Roxy.
